Ho-Ho Cake

This was supposed to be posted weeks ago for a woman (Traci??) I met at a pig roast and she heard about this cake. My apologies; however, if you check back and make this cake, I'm sure you'll be quick to forgive the delay.

Ho-Ho Cake (Yes, as in Ding-Dongs, Zingers, Little Debbies, etc.)
This cake is a process, but really isn't that tricky if you just follow the steps. I recommend reading the directions through before starting so you can plan your time and also make sure you have freezer and refrigerator space. Note pan size.

1 Chocolate Fudge box cake mix
5 Tbsp. flour
1 1/2 cup milk
2 sticks butter
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
5 squares semi-sweet chocolate, melted (equivalent to 5 oz. chocolate chips)
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 Tbsp. hot water
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

First make cake mix per instructions on the box and spread into a large greased 12x18x3/4" pan (or a close size). Bake at 350 for about 15 min. Cool.

Filling: Cook 5 Tbsp. flour and 1 1/2 cups milk until thick. Let cool. Put that mixture into a bowl with 1 stick of the butter, 1/2 cup shortening and 1 cup sugar. Beat on high speed until light and fluffy (about 8-10 min.). Then spread this nice white fluff evenly over the top of cake to about 1/4" from the edge of the pan. Put in freezer for 20 min.

Frosting: Melt other stick of butter and cool slightly. Add 1 egg, 5 squares of chocolate melted and 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar. Beat smooth by hand. Get cake out of freezer and immediately spread frosting over cake, clear to the edge of the pan. Keep refrigerated until served. Cut into squares. Enjoy!
